Learn how to make some of the warmest, coziest mittens you’ve ever put on your hands! Thrumming is a technique in which unspun wool is knit into the fabric creating a stitch motif on the outside and a warm, insulating layer inside. In this class we will learn how to make and knit thrums and we will also cover how to make thumb holes by separating and picking up our work (techniques frequently used in the creation of sleeves).

We will provide a variety of colors of roving to choose from for your thrums (included in registration).

When: Wednesdays, November 4th, 11th, 18th & December 2nd 10:00-11:30

What we will cover:

  • Twisted German Cast On
  • Dividing & Picking Up Stitches (for the thumbs but the same technique as used for many sleeve constructions)
  • Decreases
  • Making and knitting thrums
