About: Shetland sheep are a small statured heritage breed with origins on the Shetland islands. Shetland wool is an all-around wool being soft, strong, and warm. It does have some of the “crunch” factor of a woolly wool which makes it durable and a great choice for any piece that you want to hold up over time. It fluffs up beautifully after washing and continues to get better with time and wear. If you’re a fan of vintage knitting, Fair Isle knitting, or lace work then this is a great yarn for that purpose. Think of all those wonderful sweaters and vests seen in the t.v. show, “All Creatures Great & Small.”

NOTE: If you are wool sensitive then I do recommend layering a cotton garment under your sweater which is a practice I commonly do with all of my sweaters regardless of the yarn used. Layering helps extend the life of the sweater and reduces the need for frequent washing.
