How to Choose the “Right” Yarn

Ever fallen in love with a pattern, only to knit it in a different yarn and end up with a finished project that just doesn’t look or feel quite right? In this class, we’ll explore why that happens.

Together, we’ll look at the many factors that affect how a yarn behaves, including fiber type, ply, weight, elasticity, color, WPI, superwash vs. non-superwash, and more. You’ll leave with a better understanding of how to choose yarn that not only works for your project, but truly lets your handiwork shine.

Materials: None required, but we’ll be playing with the following tools and yarns in class, so bring them if you have them:

• Tape measure

• Control card

• WPI tool

• A “mystery” yarn you picked up at an estate sale or inherited from your great-aunt
