Sweater Club: Your First Sweater

Class Size: Limited to 6 participants for personalized instruction and support.

Prerequisites
Participants should be comfortable with:
- Casting on
- Knit & Purl stitches
- Familiarity with knitting in the round (we'll build confidence with this!)
Materials Needed
- US 6 & US 8 circular needles in 16" and 32" for each size
- DPNs or ability to work magic loop (Magic loop will be reviewed during class)
- Stitch markers
- Tapestry needle
- A set of knitting try-on tubes will be provided which will help when trying on your sweater to check fit while you’re knitting
NOTE: All students receive a 20% discount on class-required materials purchased at Tumalo Fiber.

- Gauge swatching
Day 2 — Gauge & Getting Started
10:30 AM - 12:30PM - February 6, 2026
- Reviewing gauge swatches
- What to do if you don’t get gauge
- Casting on
- Getting started on your sweater
Day 3 — Shaping & Structure
10:30 AM - 12:30 PM - February 20, 2026
- Short-row shaping - We anticipate that we should be able to complete this section during class.
- Separating body and sleeves
- Backwards loop cast-on
- Homework: Work on the sweater body over the next two weeks
Day 4 — Sleeves & Finishing (Final Class)
10:30 AM - 12:30PM - March 6, 2026
- Knitting sleeves
- Finishing techniques
- Final questions and next steps
