Curious about spinning your own yarn? Come learn the magic and science behind turning fiber into yarn with one of the oldest tools in the fiber world: the drop spindle. Portable, approachable, and endlessly fascinating, drop spindle spinning is a wonderful first step into handspun yarn.

This class is perfect for absolute beginners as well as spinners looking to refine their technique. We’ll cover the foundations of spindle spinning with plenty of hands-on practice, so you’ll leave with the confidence to keep spinning at home.

• How to draft fiber
• Park & draft technique
• Continuous spinning
• Methods for removing singles from the spindle

What You’ll Need to Bring:

Please bring a drop spindle if you have one. If not, we’ll have a selection of beautiful handmade drop spindles available for purchase in the shop. These functional, beginner-friendly spindles are handmade by a woman in Montana and available for $29.

Whether you’re brand new to spinning or ready to build on the basics, this class is a lovely introduction to the rhythm and process of making your own yarn.
